Kathmandu, August 16, 2015: At an international film festival organised in San Francisco, United States of America , Nepali actor Sunil Thapa, also known as ‘Rate Kaila’ in the Nepali film industry, has been awarded the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’.
Actor Thapa, who was given the award in the middle of award-conferring function-The Festival of Globe, made his fortune into film sector from acting in the Bollywood movies but went on to become a household name through his negative role in Nepali movies.
The Federation of Indo Americans in the USA has been organizing  the festival since two decades. Thapa was honored in the Festival for his exceptionally good contribution to the film sector.
At the function, Hollywood actor Jackie Chan and Martin Sin, Bollywood musician and singer Bappi Lahiri and a Vietnamese actress were also honored with the lifetime achievement award.
For the first time Nepali artistes  were participating in the Festival.  Nepali films like ‘Chocolate and Tata Bye-Bye’ also shared the screen in the Festival from total of 30 other countries films.
