Kathmandu,25 November,2014: Gallery Mcube will be hosting an open-house exhibition of works by the participants of the first season of the art series titled Air_Mcube—Artist in Residence, at its premises in Chakupat, Lalitpur. The exhibition will begin from November 29 and continue till  December 3.

The residency aims to provide a platform for promising national and international artists to express their ideas in different art forms including painting, printing, sculpture, installation, performance art and multi-media. Further, to make the programme more interdisciplinary, they also plan to involve curators, designers, writers, media artists, sound artists and composers. During the project, the artists are involved not just in creating, but also in interacting and collaborating with each other. And apart from showcasing their creations, the participating artists also engage in different community projects and interactive workshops that involve orphans and underprivileged children. Similarly, the artists also hold an “Mcube Chakati Guff” session, where they talk about their works and experinces. Further, the programme also provides mentorship to the budding participants. The mentors include renowned artist and art critic Madan Chitrakar, artist Chirag Bangdel, Maja Spasova (a visual artist from Sweden), and Juju U (an installation artist from South Korea).

The first season of the series started from October 12 and will continue till November 30. It involved Nepali artists Ishan Pariyar and Sundar Lama, both of whom were selected to showcase their artistic creations at Mcube Artists’ Studio.

Interested local artists are invited to apply for the second season of Air_Mcube, which will begin from December 7, 2014, to January 17, 2015. Selections will be based on merit.
