Accordingly, petrol will now cost seven rupee less per litre. The price of petrol is fixed at Rs. 116 per litre from the existing Rs. 123 per litre, said NOC spokesperson Mukunda Ghimire.

Likewise, diesel and kerosene will be available for Rs. 92 per litre, less by Rs. 5.5 than the existing price. Aviation fuel will be available for Rs 133 per litre, less by 10 rupee in a litre.

Diesel and kerosene used to cost Rs. 97.50 whereas the domestic price of aviation fuel was Rs. 143 per litre.

The price of cooking gas and aviation fuel (for international) remains the same.

The new price adjustment takes the monthly income of the NOC to Rs. 485.9 million, added spokesperson Ghimire.

It may be noted that Prime Minister Sushil Koirala had on Thursday directed Minister for Commerce and Supplies Sunil Bahadur Thapa to adjust the price of petroleum products as per the international market price.

Various student organizations had been calling for adjustment of fuel price, in consideration of the decreasing rate at the international market.

The new price has been adjusted as per the price list sent by Indian Oil Corporation on December 16.
