Kavre, 2nd February, 2015 : Ambassadors from various countries have expressed that Nepal could accelerate its economic development through the promotion of rural tourism.

 

Inaugurating the Banthali Eco-Hill Resort at Banthali in Kavre recently, the envoys said Nepal which is rich in culture and diverse natural landscapes, could lure more number of tourists provided rural tourism for Nepal is utmost promoted.

Dr Sergey Vailievich Velichkin, the Russian ambassador to Nepal, on the occasion shared that he will do his level best to inform the Russians in his country about the natural and cultural beauty of Nepal.

 

Similarly, Mrs. Rensje Teerink, the European Union ambassador to Nepal, was of the opinion that Nepal could attract the European tourists in greater number if the access to clean energy and sanitation service could be expanded in the rural areas.

 

Likewise, W.M. Senevirathna, the Sri Lankan envoy to Nepal argued that Lumbini, the birth place of Lord Buddha, has been the major attraction to Sri Lanka.

 

The resort, situated 42 kilometres South-East of Kathmandu, is built at the cost of Rs 30 million and brought into operation by nine hotel entrepreneurs, informed Yadu Lamichanne, one of the proprietors of the Banthali resort.

 

Chitra Bahadur Gurung, the Chair of Village Tourism Promotion Forum Nepal (VITOF-Nepal) and Raj Kumar Thapa, the member-secretary of VITOF-Nepal, said that the Forum will stress on the promotion of new rural tourist destinations.

 

The resort can accommodate 40 guests at a time and the visitors can enjoy the picturesque view of several mountain peaks including Langtang, Ganesh, Jugal and Gaurishankar among others.
