Nothing Is Impossible

Kathmandu, September 12, 2016: A competition is being organized in the nation for the first time focusing on different talents in the physically challenged people.

Titled ‘Differently Abled Idol’ and being held with the slogan “Nothing is Impossible”, the competition seeks to bring out the talents in the three particular sectors: singing, dancing and painting and show to the society that nothing is impossible and none are incapable.

In the competition, a four-member jury panel comprising of Singers Hemant Sharma and Reema Gurung Hoda, Choreographer Shiva Bk and Artist Sanjay Bantawa will be judging the contestants on the basis of their performance.

Talking about the idea behind organizing the competition, Chitra Poudel, the coordinator of the programme says that though there are various kinds of such competitions being held regularly, none of them have tried to include differently abled people into such competitions. “Differently abled people are taken as incapable for everything, making them feel being neglected. Through the competition, we want to encourage them and bring their talents forward,” he adds.

Sharing the essence of the competition, Poudel says, “Their talents have been limited to the streets till now. Through this programme, we want to give them a new identity and take their talent to a next level.”

The audition round of the competition has already been completed and has selected 35 contestants who will be competing in the second round, out of the total of 350 applicants.

The second round of the competition is taking place on Ashoj 9 (September 25) in Hotel Hardik, Bagbazar and will select top 10 contestants while the third round will be selecting 5 contestants, taking them to the grand finale.

The Grand Finale of the competition will be held in the presence of the dignitaries from the government, policymakers, diplomats, youth leaders and the representatives of the organizations working for the physically challenged people.

The ‘Differently Abled Idol’ will be felicitated with a cash prize of Rs50,000 along with a 7-days Dubai tour while the first and second runner ups will be awarded with cash prizes of Rs20,000 and Rs 15,000 respectively.
