Kathmandu, May 7, 2018 : The Financial Controller General Office (FCGO) has now made a provision to offer grant to the university students to research on the impact of government’s investment in Public Enterprise( PEs).
Under this scheme, five students have been selected from department of economics and department of Management of tribhuvan University to research the impact of spending on Pes in their thesis.
Damodar Regmi, joint financial comptroller general of FCGO, said that as per policy of the government to expand investment, FCGO has started partnering with various institutions.
More than 400 billion has been invested by government in public enterprise. However, there is a poor performance of few public utility and service related PEs.
Students have applied to research on various topics , covering management practices and performance of public enterprises in nepal, investment and returns among others.
According to primary findings , efficiency of PEs can be raised 45 percent from the present level through application of Management practices. The government had share investment worth Rs 179.08 and loan investment worth Rs 221.99 billion till last fiscal .
The government has major share investment in Nepal electricity authority, civil aviation authority of Nepal, Nepal telecom, Udayapur cement and Nepal television.
Similarly, the government has high loan investment in kathmandu valley drinking water supply board , Agriculture development bank and janakpur cigarette factory.
