Financial Literacy for Women Held on International Women’s Day

Kathmandu, March 13, 2018: Marking the International Women’s Day, Entrepreneurs Nepal organized a one-day seminar ‘Financial Literacy for Women’ on March 8, 2018, at Coffee Pasal, Durbarmarg.

The conference welcomed various personalities and representatives from Nepal Rastra Bank, Sakchyam Access to Finance Programme, U.S Embassy Youth Council Nepal, the political background of Nepal, aspiring leaders and other young professionals and students.

The discussion sessions were held on the topic like the role of women in financial decision making, the culture of passing on basic financial concepts like saving and expenditure to children, economic contribution by male and female in a family, as well as a dynamic role of women and financial literacy

All the participants discussed on the cases relevant to the scenario of women in Nepal and had a discussion about what we can be done to create a multiplier effect instead of only being concerned on the individual level to actually have a substantial impact in the lives of women of Nepal.

Ayusha Nirola, Communication Manager, Sakchyam AFP said,“How society perceives women and the power dynamics plays a vital role. So, it is important to get men on board to empower women for financial decision making.”

Entrepreneurs Nepal is a non-government and non-profit organization which has been working since 2014 with the motive ‘Entrepreneurship through Financial Literacy’. It is actively engaged in community-based programs, advocacy, research and content development, digital and published media.
