Butwal,28 March 2015: Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Bimalendra Nidhi, has said the government was serious towards the development of Lumbini.
Taking part in an interaction programme organised by Nepal Engineers’ Association Lumbini regional center Butwal here Saturday, Minister Nidhi said Lumbini, the birthplace of Gautam Buddha, was being developed into a destination for international tourism and the government had already initiated a process of constructing an international airport at Bhairahawa. “Development of this historic place is the top priority of the government.”
He also stressed the need of developing Butwal’s Jitgadhi fortress and areas surrounding Tansen and Ruru of Palpa as tourism destinations.
Stating that one million internal and external tourists were visiting Lumbini annually, he called for developing a tourism route linking Bhairahawa, Butwal, Tansen and Ruru.
