Ilam, Oct. 21,2014 : At a time the Home Ministry has appealed to all not to use firecrackers in the Tihar festival, the insufficient number of custom offices has encouraged the smugglers to import firecrackers in cahoots with the Armed Police.
It is also because of weak management and monitoring of the available customs offices.
The smuggling was revealed after the locals complained that the firecrackers were being imported in collusion with the armed police persons.
The locals have further blamed the armed police persons that they were harassing them even in importing ordinary goods but allowing many to hide crackers on cycle and motorcycle.
The crackers worth of hundred of thousand rupees were brought to Nepal from the check points of Ramnagbhutaha, Devangunj, Shreepur, Haripur, Bhantabari, Laukahi daily.
