Minister Panday Emphasize On Merging SAARC Process

Kathmandu, July 28, 2015: In order to work together in international forums Minister for Foreign Affairs Mahendra Bahadur Pandey has Pointed up to consolidate the SAARC process and the need for Nepal and the Maldives.

Minister Pandey stated this during the meeting with the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Maldives, Ms Dunya Maumoon at the latter’s office on Monday afternoon. As per a press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today the two Foreign Ministers deliberated on various matters of common interests during the meeting.

Similarly, Minister Panday expressed that Maldives’ half a century’s journey as independent nation has been marked by progress in institutionalization of democracy, economic growth, development of basic infrastructure and prosperity of people. He also congragulated to the Government and people of Maldives for their independence.

He added that to promote the interests of smaller countries the two countries should work together in international forums stressing the need to further consolidate the SAARC process for the maximum benefit of the people of the region.

Minister Panday is scheduled to return to Kathmandu this evening. Foreign Minister attended the luncheon hosted in honor of the foreign dignitaries by the Vice President of the Maldives earlier on Tuesday. Likewise, Minister Panday attended special functions organized to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of Maldives’ independence on July 26.
