Myagdhi declared as ‘literate district’

Myagdi, January 24, 2018: After 96.27 percent of the total population of Myagdhi were found to be literate, it has been declared as ‘literate district’. The Centre for Non-formal Education under the Ministry of Education presented a certificate to the District Education Office, Myagdhi for meeting the criteria of a ‘literate district’.

The district was announced literate after all 45 wards and six local levels of the district met the criteria. Myagdi is among the 39th district of the country to gain the status.

Bhupendra Bahadur Thapa, the member of the federal parliament from the district, made the announcement at a program organized by District Non-formal Education committee and the District Education office.

According to Thapa, the district was affirmed as per international standards. He mentioned, “This status of the literate district will send an optimistic message. If we give continuity to the literacy programs in the district, the illiterate people of the district could gain a lot of knowledge.”
