Nepal defeats Maldives in women’s volleyball


Kathmandu,19 Dec 2014: Nepal registered its first victory in the First South Asian Women Friendship Volleyball Championship that kicked off here on Friday.

In the first match, Nepal defeated Maldives in straight sets 25-19, 25-11, and 25-13 at the Tripureshwor based National Sports Council complex on Friday.

Nepal is taking part the South Asia level championship in women’s volleyball for the first time after eight years.

Nepal will now face Bangladesh in the second match to be played at 4:00 pm on Saturday.

Chairman of the Constituent Assembly Subas Nembang inaugurated the championship and expressed his commitment to provide possible support from his side for encouraging women’s volleyball in the country.
