Kathmandu, Dec 11, 2014: The Metropolitan Police Range, Hanumandhoka today made public one Bimalesh Prasad Yadav, who is an accused in the murder of student Ritu Mahaseth.

Organising a press conference, the Metropolitan Police Range presented the 27-year-old Yadav from Dhanusha District.

Yadav had stabbed Mahaseth on December 6 at Ghattekulo Dhobikhola Corridor while she was on her way to attend her friend’s wedding, severely injuring her. Mahaseth was taken to the TU Teaching Hospital for treatment where she died the same day.

A resident of Tulasiyahijabdi-4, Dhanusha District, Mahaseth was a BBA First Year student at local Kantipur College, Milanchowk. She had been staying in a girl’s hostel in the capital.

Investigation shows that Yadav had proposed his love to Mahaseth and had been following her for some years and attacked her in retribution after she refused his proposal, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Dinesh Kumar Acharya, said. Yadav was arrested from Balaju on Wednesday.  Further investigation into the case is underway, police said.
