 Kathmandu,3 Feb 2015: The government has intensified the search for physical properties registered in the name of former royal family.

The government is seeking the details of property owned by the family of the late King Birendra Shah through the office of Nepal Trust. The property will be integrated and spent for the welfare of people, it is learnt.

So far the government has owned up some 22,518 ropanis of land including from Lalitpur, Chitwan and Hetauda belonged to the family of former King Birendra. The campaign of finding out property details is on and more plots of land registered in the name of royal family are expected to be traced out, Trust Joint Secretary Prajwal Sharma said.

The Trust has owned Rs 275 millions deposited in various banks in the country by the royal family. Similarly, during the campaign, it had been found that the former royal family had shares at Nabil Bank, Hotel Dela Annapurna and Nepal Industrial Development Corporation.
