Kathmandu,1 Dec 2014: Speakers have stressed that capacity building and skill-oriented training and employment opportunities were needed for the youth.

At a national workshop organised by the  here today, they pointed out the necessity of capacity building education.

On the occasion, Joint-Secretary at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Surya Prasad Sharma, said that works could be done independently for youths if a Youth Council is formed.

He also pointed out the need of a separate body looking after programmes and activities regarding youths.

Similarly, Chairman of Youth Vision 25, Yogendra Shahi said although the Youth Policy-2066 has incorporated most of the issues of youths, ending discrimination among youths was the first challenge.

Stating that there was lack of youth-focused programmes, Shahi said some programmes have been used in a wrong way.

Chairperson of Shakti Samuha, Sunita Danuwar, said they youths are behind due to lack of employment-oriented education and added that special programme was necessary to develop capacity of youths from marginalized community.

Presenting a working paper, YAN Chairman Narendra Khatiwada said that youths have been facing different problems including lack of access to quality education, opportunity of dignified employment and security.
