Lumbini (Rupandehi),20 Nov 2014: Security at places near the Nepal-India border in Rupandehi district has been beefed up in view of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s much-awaited visit to Lumbini, the birth place of Lord Buddha.
The biggest transit point of the district, Belhiya, is being inspected by the help of sniffer dogs brought from the Western Regional Police Office, Pokhara, the police said.
The ‘Labrador’ and ‘German Shepherd’ breeds are trained to track the explosive materials, informed Bikram Bahadur Thapa, the Sub-Inspector of the Police at Rupandehi Police office.
Vehicles and passers-by and the people entering Nepal from India are under the scrutiny of the police.
High alert in security has been adopted in the areas as the days of Modi’s visit draw close, the Police added.
