Entries for the 2019 version of Volvo Environment Prize has called for applications now. The prize rewards outstanding scientific discoveries or innovation which in broad terms fall within the Environmental field.
The Volvo Environment Prize is an independent Foundation instituted in 1988. Since the first award in 1990, the Volvo Environment Prize has become one of the scientific world’s most respected environmental prizes. Laurates represent all fields of environmental science and sustainability studies ad initiatives. The span of disciplines and activities for which nominations can be made is wide and includes all disciplines which have relevance to the environment.
The prize consists of a hand-crafted diploma, a glass sculpture and a cash award for SEK 1,5 million(approximately EUR 165,000 or USD 215,0000. The award ceremony is held in Stockholm in November every year.
Anyone can make the nomination for the Volvo Environment Prize but the nominees should come from a field of environmental and sustainability studies and initiatives. The nominations should be based on the scientific grounds but must clearly show impact outside of the specific discipline and self-nomination is restricted for the Prize.
