Palpa, Feb 13: The 10-day ‘Palpa Festival-2071’ began at Tansen today. Organised by the Palpa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI), the festival will run until February 22.

President of PCCI Raju Maharjan said that different goods produced by women and agro entrepreneurs, cottage industry, among others are in display and sale at the festival.

He added that a small zoo, variety of fishes and mushroom, sample of water mill, yak, Palpali Dhaka Industry, the biggest Karuwa (a traditional jar) of the world are other attractions of the festival.

Food items of local Newar and Magar communities are also expected to draw huge crowds in the festival. The oldest Dhaka Industry of the Nepal and the biggest Karuwa in the world are the major attractions of the festival.

Organizers expect that some 300,000 people would visit the festival and would lead to transaction worth Rs 100 million.
PCCI Vice-president Mohan Shrestha said that different rallies highlighting the art, culture and tradition of various ethnic groups of Palpa would be organised in course of the festival.

Different artists including actor Rajesh Hamal, folk singer Narayan Rayamajhi, among other would perform during the festival.
