India, 1st August, 2015: Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Pradhan MantriÂ Kaushal Vikas Yojana in New Delhi.Â The programme aims toÂ impart skill training to 24 lakh youth during 2015-16 with focusÂ on first time entrants to the labour market and class 10 andÂ class 12 drop outs.
It will cover 24 lakh persons and skill trainingÂ based on national skill qualification framework (NSQF) andÂ industry led standards ,implemented by union ministry of skillÂ development and entrepreneurship through National skillÂ development corporation (NSDC) training partners .
Out of totalÂ outlay of 1120 crore rupees to be spent on skill training of 14Â lakh youth, 220 crore rupees has been allocated for recognitionÂ of prior learning.67 crore rupees has been allocated forÂ awareness building and mobilization efforts and for mentor support and placement facilitation for trainees .Sector skillÂ councils and the state governments would closely monitor skillÂ training that will happen under the PMKVY .
For verifying andÂ recording details of all training centers skill developmentÂ management system (SDMS) would be put in place. A robustÂ grievance redressed system would be put in place to addressÂ grievances relating to implementation of the scheme.
