Kathmandu, January 30, 2017:Â Road broomer machines are to be used to clean the dust on the roadways in the Kathmandu Valley.
The Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation earlier instructed the concerned authorities to clean the Valley’s roads with the use of road broomer machine after the laying of water pipes carried out under the Melamchi Drinking Water Project.
According to Ministry Secretary Bheem Prasad Upadhyay, there were complaints from the public level against increasing air pollution in the Valley as roads here are not well cleaned after they were dug to install water pipes. The instruction to use a road sweeping machine to remove dust was to address the public complaints, he said.
The cleaning of roads is expected to begin within a couple of days, he added.
