May 31, 2015: The schools that had remained closed due to the massive earthquake have come into operation from Sunday.
After April 25 and May 12 powerful tremor the schools remained closed for a month. The decision of the Ministry of Education stated that though some school has started their curricular activities some of the school buildings damages would be operated after some days.
Those schools which are safe has smoothly started their activities where as some schools have resumed their educational activities by constructing temporary shelters as an alternative after technical assessment of the devastated and partially damaged school structures. Students are being sent to private and public schools in quake-affected zones including the Kathmandu Valley.
Similarly, some of the private boarding schools are running classes in two shifts due to limited makeshift rooms.The life is expected to come back to normalcy with reopening of schools. Likewise, The government has the policy to provide with psycho-social counseling to the students before resuming classroom activities. The school reopening bid would be coordinated by the concerned District Education Office and notice was already issued regarding the preparation for classroom operation, Director of Department of Education Khagendra Nepal said.
