Dhangadhi, May 31, 2016: Mother is a symbol of love. There is no other love like mother’s, as she cares for her child more than herself.

But some children are deprived of mother’s love as they have lost their mothers at a tender age. Dibyashwori Bohara of Kailali has provided a shelter to 10 such children and nurtured them in a homely environment.

Bohara, the “mother” at SOS Children’s Village in Geta of the district, shares she feels proud to take care of these children even though she gets to meet her own children only four days a month.

Earlier she had a hard time convincing the children about her sincerity to provide them a family, but now she has already overcome it.

Though some children still recall the sour memories they have of losing their parents, the SOS has helped them cope with the loss and focus on their present, said SOS Children’s Village Chief Padam Bahadur Hamal.

Like Bohara, total 15 mothers are also working at the SOS Village taking care of 84 children who have lost their parents.

Meanwhile, the organisation has also pressured the government to launch a research and find facts about children’s homes in the country. In Kailali alone, five children’s homes have been shut down for not meeting the government standards.
