June 17, 2015: Police in Rautahat arrested three sugarcane farmers including former Chairperson of the Sugarcane Producers Association, Rautahat Gayanath Yadav. They are arrested on the charge of submitting fake documents for payments at Sriram Sugar Mills.
Ganga Shaha and Achhelal Shah of Garuda municipality-6 are arrested on the same charge according to the police. They were arrested on the basis of filed cased by sugar mill officials.
The accused submitted fake papers requesting release of payment for around 50 tonnes of sugarcane in the name of sugarcane farmers from various localities. According to the Area Police Office in Garuda, further investigation into the incident is underway after remanding them to judicial custody.
