Mustang, May 31, 2016: Transportation at the Beni-Jomson road stretch resumed on Monday following a closure due to a landslide.

The pre-monsoon downpour triggered the landslide at Ghasa area bordering Mustang and Myagdi on Saturday obstructing regular traffic.

The landslide damaged around 10 meters of the road which the Road Department Baglung helped repair allowing regular traffic movement, said Ganesh Bahadur Adhikari, Mustang’s Chief District Officer (CDO).

The sudden obstruction had caused difficulties for domestic and foreign tourists visiting Mustang among other travellers. The travellers were stranded on the road for at least two days.

Mustang is home to famous Muktinath, an important religious shrine, which draws thousands of devotees and tourists each year. The arrival of tourists and devotees has been particular high this season.
