Inaruwa, 27 Jan 2015: Two people died and three others were injured when a truck smacked a car at Titirbana along the Inaruwa-Itahari road section of the East-West Highway today afternoon.
The truck (Ko 1 Kha 1389) hit the car (Ba 6 Cha 945), heading east from west, resulting in the death of Shyam Maharjan from Kathmandu-21 and Sunil Mochi from Terai who were in the car, according to Masaud Alam Khan, the Sub-Inspector at the District Police Office, Sunsari.
Mochi died on the spot while Maharjan, who was driving the car, breathed his last in course of treatment at BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS), Dharan, Sub-Inspector Khan said.
The injured are Bikram Bista, Saburlal Mochi and an unidentified person on bicycle as the car, after the truck’s smack, went on hitting a bicycle.
The dead body of Mochi has been taken to Inaruwa District Hospital for post mortem while that of Maharjan is kept at BPKIHS.
Police have taken the truck under their control.
