Volunteer for Change Promoting Use of Nepali Language in Youths

Kathmandu, February 22, 2019: Volunteer for Change (VFC), a program under CREASION, had organized an “Inter School Nepali Essay Writing Competition” on 21st February, 2019 with an aim to celebrate the International Mother Language Day. The event was held on Malpi International College.

They got support of Community Police Center, Nil Saraswati Sthan, Lazimpat. Karna Bahadur Bhuwaji, Under Secretary of National Youth council and Binod Ghimire, DYSP of Metropolitan Police Circle, Durbar Marg were present in the event as the chief guest. The entire event was carried out in support of Ekta Publishing House, Mandala Book Points, Swastik Saving and Credit Co-Operative Ltd.

The idea to celebrate this day was to promote Nepali language among youths and encourage them to communicate their minds in diverse topics. The overall essay competition was organized in two phases.

The first phase comprised of essay writing competition among 8 different schools of Kathmandu namely Fairlyland Boarding School, Nandi Secondary School, Shivapuri Secondary School, Mahendra Rastriya School, Creative Model School, Mt. Gauri Shankar School, New Leera H.S School and Anupam Vidhya School.

Consecutively in the second phase, students who excelled in the first round competed for the grand prize. Three students were awarded with prize for first, second and third position.

The award ceremony on Thursday awarded Pratima Chaudary from Shivapuri Secondary School for the first position. Following her, Pramod K. Mahato from Nandi Secondary School and Simran Maharjan from New Leera Higher Secondary School secured second and third position respectively.
