Kathmandu, Dec 12, 2014: UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said promulgating a consensus-based constitution within coming January 22 is the main agenda of his party.
During his meeting with the leaders of ethnic movement at his Lazimpat-based residence this morning, leader Dahal said he is effortful to ensure identity-based federalism and the constitution along with the inclusion of federalism.
Enforcement of agreements reached among the political parties at different times is the base for drafting a new constitution, he said, adding that whether the Nepali Congress and CPN (UML) are committed to these agreements is the main concern of the hour.
Although the opposition parties including the UCPN (Maoist) are doing their best to ensure the timely promulgation of a new constitution, the ruling parties lack willpower to that end, Dahal argued and underlined the need of positive support from all quarters to materialize the dream of people’s movements, according to his personal aide Shiva Khakurel.
Civil society leader and ethnic leaders Padma Ratna Tuladhar, Malla K Sundar, Om Gurung and Suresh Ale Magar requested Dahal not to make any compromises in guaranteeing identity-based federalism and constitution along with federalism.
