Kathmandu, July 9, 2017: YUWA, a youth-led organization working to promote youth participation through empowerment and advocacy, is conducting an academic course on Gender and Sexuality from July 22-27, 2017.
The course is being run by Center for Gender and Sexuality Studies of YUWA, a research unit under the Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights department in the organization. YUWA plans to make this center a hub for adolescent and youths to learn about Gender and Sexuality, its aspects and issues. Adolescents and youths from various backgrounds who are interested to learn about the concept of gender and sexuality and its relation with development can sign up for the course.
The major objectives of this course will be to increase the level of understanding on concept of gender and sexuality among the adolescent and youth of diverse background, build critical analytical skills among adolescent and youth on issues of gender and sexuality, and shape thinking of adolescent and youths of diverse backgrounds to create a gender-balanced society.
Through this program, the students will not only understand the concept of gender and sexuality but also learn and implement the methods and techniques of critical analysis and research through articles, desk review, and briefs. Besides, the graduate of this center will also publish articles, reviews and other relevant publication related to issues of gender and sexuality.
The 12 credit hours interactive course will be a two-day session with 6 credit hours per day. Adolescents and youths below the age of 29 years can apply for the course.
