Children rescued from brick kiln in Bhaktapur

Kathamandu, April 30, 2018: Two children under the age of 14 from Rolpa have been rescued from a brick kiln located at Changunarayan of Bhaktapur.

Deepak Dangi and Subash Dangi from Hwama of Rolpa Municipality 9 who are aged 13 and 9 yrs respectivey were rescued with the help of Child Development Society, Bhaktapur.

The children were handed over to their parents under the patronage of the Rolpa municipality. Rolpa municipality’s Mayor Purna KC said the rescued boys were handed over to their parents under the municipality’s responsibility.

The boys who attended the final exams of grade four in March ran away to join their sisters working at the brick kiln, Mayor KC shared. An estimated total of 400 children from Rolpa are currently working in brick kilns as they come from poor economic background.
