Kathmandu, Dec 12, 2014: Film director Jagannath Timilsina has passed away. The 72-year-old Timilsina passed away on Wednesday morning.

He is arguably the first professional film director in the history of Nepali film.  He had been ill, but not seriously, since the past few days. He all of sudden collapsed at his Hadigaun-based residence in the early morning as he came out from the rest room.

The family rushed him to the Chabahil-based Medicare Hospital in an unconscious condition at 5:00 am, where doctors pronounced him dead. He had been living a normal life and not taking any regular medicine for any illness, according to the family sources.

He was the colleague of Indian famous cine artiste Jaya Bhaduri while he was the student of cinematography in Pune, India and had won the gold as the ‘best artist’. He had his role in many Nepali popular films like Manko Bandh, Sindoor, Hijo Aja Bholi, Pariwartan and Maitighar.

He was once close to Indian noted cine artist Dev Anand and assisted the direction of Hindi blockbuster Harekrishna Hareram which was shot in Nepal.

He is survived by his spouse and three sons.
