Parsa, July 7, 2015:Â 4,400 pieces of gutkha (a form of chewing tobacco) which were illegally imported from Brahmatole of Birgunj bypass road were seized by the police on Monday.
According to Police Inspector Khagendra Prasad Rijal, the chewing tobacco worth over Rs. 100,000 were illegally imported via Matiarwa checkpoint of Bara district based on a tip off.
Further he said, the impounded chewing tobacco and a motorcycle (Ba 24 Pa 4307) used for transporting it would be send to the Revenue Investigation Office, Pathalaiya.
As per the police, the smuggler is on the run.The smuggling of chewing tobacco has increased from different checkpoints of Bara district has increased in the recent days after the police took stern measures to stop in the entry of the chewing tobacco from Parsa.
