INTERACTION ON NEPALI PASSPORT HELD

Kathmandu, May 28: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Department of Passport organized an interaction program titled “Interaction with the Diplomatic Community on Nepalese Passports” in Kathmandu on Wednesday.

This was the second annual event with Diplomatic Corps organized by the Department of Passport since the commencement of Department of Passport about three years ago, according to the Ministry.

At the programme, Director General of the Department Ramesh Prasad Khanal shed light on the activities of the Department including the production, delivery and distribution of Machine readable Passports.

Likewise, Director of the Department Durga Prasad Bhandari talked about the Structure of Department of Passports, existing human resource, procedural aspects of issuance of Passports, statistical overview about the production and distribution of Passports by the Department.

He further explained about the reform measures initiated by the Department towards providing smooth and speedy service delivery to the people applying for MRP’s at the Department and that of from the districts and from the Nepali diplomatic missions abroad.

On the occasion, representative of the Oberthur Technologies, a French Company handling the printing of the Nepali Passports at the Department, Siddhartha Raj Pandey shed light on the security features of Nepali Passports.

Diplomatic officials from the Diplomatic missions based in Kathmandu as well as representatives of International Organization for Migration, representative of the line Ministries and Departments of the Government of Nepal and the senior officials of the Department of Passports attended the program.
