Bhimduttanagar, Nov 14: Landless squatters have thronged the Landless Squatters Problems Resolution Commission (LSPRC) Office in Kanchanpur district to submit application after it made announcement to provide land to them for their systematic settlement.
The landless squatters have thronged the commission Office after it issued a 35-day notice to file the application.
Chairperson of Kanchanpur Office of the Commission, Bhuwaneshwori Rawal said more than 8,000 applications have already been filed at the office.
The government formed the Landless Squatters Problem Resolution Commission with an objective of providing land to landless squatters of the country.
In Kanchanpur, one group of landless squatters has been filing their applications whereas another group has been protesting, citing the guidelines of the Commission was not correct.
They have been protesting the guidelines, 2071 of the Commission, saying the guidelines has determined the limitation of the land to five kattha, taken revenue to 70 per cent and filing new applications, among others.
The district still has not the fact data of landless squatters. As per the census of 2068 BS, around 60,000 people in the district are landless squatters.
Chairperson Rawal said they have already sent the decisions in the centre after holding an all-party meeting on the problems seen in the guidelines.
