National Football Team Bade Farewell For Match Against India

Kathmandu,7 March 2015: The national football team on Saturday was bade farewell in course of heading to India to play its World Cup selection round match.

The All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) bade farewell to the national team which will play its first match against the host country India. National Sports Council (NSC) Member Secretary Yuvraj Lama handed over the national flag to the team captain Sagar Thapa amidst a programme held at the NSC. Wishing the players success, Lama urged them to rightly use the opportunity at hand to play for their country.

The 30 member team scheduled to leave today comprises 23 players and seven officials. Nepal will play against India on March 22 at Guwahati in its first away match for qualification to the World Cup to be held in Russia in 2018.

The team will leave for Kolkata today if there is no technical problem and will remain there for two days’ training before leaving for Guwahati for the match, assistant coach Hari Khadka said.
