Kathmandu, Sept 13: The newsbhitta.com on Saturday started the process of selecting the top ten lawmakers of the year through online voting. Chief Election Commissioner Nilkantha Upreti inaugurated the process at a function held in the capital on Saturday, with only 130 days left for January 22, 2015, the date slated for promulgating the new constitution.
The voting for the selection process of the top ten lawmakers would be effective until November 20 and the famous social media like facebook, twitter, and google plus could be used for the voting, according to the organizer.
The Constituent Assembly (CA) Chairman, the Vice-chairperson, member of the Council of Ministers and senior members of the CA are not included in the list. Inaugurating the programme, Chief Commissioner Upreti said the selection process of the lawmakers in the proportional election system was rather faulty and suggested correcting it. He said, “Though the country adopted proportional election system, the use of system was not done in the right way. It should be corrected.”
Similarly, former Chairman of the Constitutional Committee under the first CA, Nilamber Acharya said it would be challenging to promulgate the constitution in the slated time if the Round Table Conference and High Level Political Committee, which are not recognized by the CA and the Interim Constitution, were formed. Referring to the incidents of attack against the independent Judiciary and Media, Acharya said the constitution should be written for equality, justice, prosperity of the country and its people and for this positive pressure from all sides was necessary to the political parties and lawmakers.
Director of the newsbhitta.com Jivan Neupane, Chief Editor Bishnu Nisthuri, senior correspondent Bomlal Giri said the organization has been keeping the record of lawmakers’ discipline, behaviour, working activities and attendance in the CA.
