Kathmandu: The reconstruction of historic Durbar High School has been completed. The school building was built using modern construction materials using mud, bricks, pulses and lime, but its traditional look has been kept intact.

The construction company officials will monitor and hand it over to the government by mid-February. Currently, the decorative and other finishing work is taking place on the school campus. Shanghai Construction was given the responsibility of building a school with the full support of the Chinese government.

A total of 100 workers were employed daily for the construction and it took 19 months to complete the work. The four-storey building has 40 rooms.

After the introduction of the National Education System in 1973, the school has been running under the district education office.
