Sandeep Lamichhane picked up by Oval Invincibles for “The Hundred”

KATHMANDU: 19-year-old Nepal’s Sandeep Lamichhane, young leg-spinner, who has played in plethora of T20 leagues around the world, has been drafted for £100,000 by the Oval Invincibles in the Hundred draft on Sunday. The Hundred is a 100 balls tournament  is starting from next year in England and Wales. Nepal’s  Lamichhane was picked up in the second round of the draft for 100 thousand pounds.

Lamichhane will join his other teammates :  Sunil Narine , Fabian Allen, Tom Curran, Jason Roy, Sam Billings, Rilee Rossouw, Reece Topley, Hardus Viljoen, Alex Blake, Will Jacks, Chris Wood, Nathan Sowter, Laurie Evans  to play in England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB)’s new eight-team city-based competition. This would be a great opportunity for Lamichhane to gain more experience.

The Oval Invincibles is one of the two London Franchises to play in The Hundred franchise. A total of 8 city-based teams will be participating in the tournament. The eight teams are Birmingham Phoenix (Edgbaston) London Spirit (Lord’s), Manchester Originals (Emirates Old Trafford), Northern Superchargers (Emerald Headingley), Oval Invincibles (Kia Oval), Southern Brave (Ageas Bowl), Trent Rockets (Trent Bridge)  and Welsh Fire (Sophia Gardens).

A team can have up to three foreign players in their 15-men squad and all those three players can be included in the starting eleven. The Hundred will be played from 17 July to 16 August 2020 in a 100-ball format.
