sisneri roadKathmandu, Mar 30: Six persons of two families died when a taxi met with an accident at Sisneri-3 along Hetauda-Kulekhani-Sisneri-Pharping road stretch in Makwanpur district on Saturday night.

The Hetauda-bound taxi (Ba 1 Ja 3990) swerved off the road and fell some 150 meters down in Maltadanda at around 10 pm. Police suspect that brake failure could be the reason of the fatal crash.

The deceased have been identified as Durga Poudel, 36, of Betariya in Morang district, her son Parjjwal, 11, and three-year-old daughter Pranjali. Similarly, Durga’s sister Kusum Bista, 26, of Dailekh district, her 10-year-old son Ujjwal and four-month-old daughter were killed in the incident.

Superintendent of Police Ganesh Bahadur Air said that the victims died on the spot. Taxi driver Yangya Poudel, the husband of Durga, sustained critically injuries in the accident. He was rushed to the Capital for further treatment, said police.

The ill-fated vehicle skidded from a bend and landed on another bend downhill on the alternative road stretch that connects Kathmandu with Makwanpur . The incident site is about 34 km from Kathmandu.

A vehicle met with the incident at the same place three years ago, killing two persons and injuring few others.
