Sudden change in local atmospheric system causes rainfall in Kathmandu

Kathmandu, May 10, 2016: A sudden change in local atmospheric system and development of rain clouds caused a downpour in Kathmandu on Tuesday, weathermen said.

Meteorologist Sameer Shrestha of Department of Hydrology and Meteorology said the rainfall will continue throughout the day. “The rainfall will, however, stop late in the day,” he said.

Districts of mid-western and far-western regions have been lashed with heavy rains. But the eastern parts are less likely to receive rainfall, Shrestha said.

According to Hydrologist Binod Parajuli, the possibilities of flood in as much as 71 major rivers throughout the country have increased.
