Pathari, 20th February, 2015 :Â Â More than 1,500 people have been victimised by the state side and the non-state sides in the eastern region this year.
Of them, 10 women and 60 men were victimized from the state side and 1,358 women and 141 men from the non-state actors.
A book ‘Nepal Human Rights Yearbook-2015’ released by the Informal Sector Services Centre (INSEC), Birtanagar, on Thursday, has incorporated the cases of human rights violation and abuse recorded from January 1, 2014 to December 31, 2014.
On the occasion, Judge at the Appellate Court, Biratnagar, Dr Ananda Mohan Bhattarai, said that although the Constitutional Court and the Supreme Court are established at the centre level, human rights of people in rural areas have not been guaranteed.
Assistant Chief District Officer of Morang, Prem Prasad Luintel said that all should be alert to implement the provisions mentioned in the fundamental rights of the constitution for the guarantee of the human rights.
INSEC Khotang District representative DM Chamling was awarded as ‘Best Representative’ for collecting incidents of human violation in eastern region and active in human rights campaign. The award carries Rs 7,000 and a letter of appreciation.
