Panityanki (Morang), Aug. 19: Police here have arrested 30 people reportedly involved in sexual assault and looting during the Rathayatra (chariot procession) in Biratnagar on Monday.
The arrestees were involved in looting and sexual assault on the pilgrims during the Radha-Krishna rathyatra held on the occasion of the Shreekrishna Janmashthmi festival (the birthday of load Krishna). Police are investigating into the case, said DSP Prabhu Prasad Dhakal.
Meanwhile, police have arrested three people involved in misbehavior towards a dalit family of Keshav Magrati of Biratnagar Sub-metropolitan city on the charge of inter-caste marriage. Those arrested are Bhim Prasad Khatiwada, Baburam Neupane and a woman.
According to the DSP Dhakal, Suman Magrati, 24, son of Keshav Magrati and Urmila Khatiwada, 20,  daughter of Bhim Prasad Khatiwada eloped and married on August 17.
