ADMINISTRATION ALERTS PEOPLE FROM POSSIBLE FLOOD IN SUNKOSHI RIVER AREA

Banepa, Aug 2: The local administration has asked the local people to remain in high alert position in eight VDCs of Kavre district around the Sunkoshi River bank after the landslide blocked river water making a big lake in Jure of Mankha VDC, Sindhupalchowk.

 

Locals in Dolalghat area have already been shifted to the safer areas, said Chief District Officer (CDO) of Kavre, Kedar Neupane.

 

The further disasters could be determined from the nature of the water flow after the opening of the river lake, Neupane said.

 

The administration has adopted high alertness in Bhumlutar, Sarsyukharka, Koshidekha, Boldifediche, Saramthali, and Metckshe among others VDCs in the district. CDO Neupane has already reached to Dolalghat to acquire details of settlements affected by the river blockage.

 

Meanwhile, a meeting of the Security Committee in Sunsari district has also decided to deploy police to inform the people around the sensitive areas to alert them from possible flood in the river.

 

The police personnel are learnt to have been deployed at Barahakshetra, Mahendranagar, Prakashpur, Madhuwan, Western Kushah, Haripur, and Koshi barrage area of Sunsari to maintain high alert from possible flood.
