Big fire in Saptari claims toddler

saptari-dist.-mapSaptari, April 10: A two-year-old child lost her life in a big fire that engulfed more than 150 houses at Thalhi village of Jamuni Madhepura-6 in the district today.

The fire broken out from the house belonging to Lal Mohamad Minya at noontime burnt Raksana Khatun, daughter of local Aslam Minya, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police, Raj Kumar Baidwar. She was sleeping in the house, and could not be taken out as the fire raged quickly, added the victim family.

Moreover, two locals have been injured while bringing the fire under control. They have been taken to Sagarmatha Zonal Hospital, Rajbiraj, for the treatment.

The police have estimated the loss caused by fire at around Rs 200 million. Food grains, clothes, and livestock were all turned into ashes.

It took almost three hours to extinguish the fire. A fire- engine, security persons from Nepal Army, Armed Police and Nepal Police, and locals worked in unison to douse the fire. RSS
