TRC Bill as per Peace Process: Minister Acharya

narahari-acharyaKathmandu, April 10: Minister for Peace and Reconstruction Narahari Acharya has said that the Bill relating to Commissions on Truth and Reconciliation and on Enforced Disappearances were introduced as per the peace agreement and on the basis of a political consensus.

Talking to media persons after assuming the portfolio of the Peace Ministry today, he said the Bill was based on the comprehensive peace accord, the interim constitution and the many agreements reached among the parties.

Stating that the Bill does not include provision of general amnesty, he said the Bill does not have any other objective then to seek the truth and promote reconciliation in the society.

“The government is thoughtful of not hurting the victims, but every subject should not be viewed from a single angle”, he added.

On the occasion, Secretary at the Ministry Dhan Bahadur Tamang shed light on the activities of the Ministry.
