Finance Minister stresses on Tax-payers friendly administration

Kathmandu, Nov 30: Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel has insisted on developing tax payers-friendly tax administration. During his visit to the Inland Revenue Department Monday, the Finance Minister instructed the Department employees to kindly listen to grievances of tax payers and do their best to address them.

People want economic and social changes, he said, focusing on an effective and dynamic role of tax administration to fulfill the needs of tax payers.
Revenue Secretary Rajan Khanal said the existing tax system needs radical change so as to transform it as demanded by the new constitution. Revenue of Rs 38.36 million has been collected so far which is an 83 percent of the target set for the first four months of the current fiscal. He was of the view of coming up with an alternative plan to deal with negative indication on the collection of inland revenue to be resulted from obstructions in the supplies of commodities on border caused by an adverse situation in the Tarai.
