GOVERNMENT HANDS RS. 50,000 TO WINNING CRICKET TEAM MEMBERS

Kathmandu, Sept 9: The government on Tuesday honored the victorious Nepali Cricket team members that emerged on top at the Asian Cricket Council (ACC U-16) Premier League Cricket Championship held in Malaysia.

The members of the U-16 cricket team were handed over cash prizes amidst a programme held by the Ministry of Youth and Sports. Minister for Youth and Sports Purushottam Poudel, National Sports Council Member-Secretary Yuvraj Lama, Ministry’s Secretary Dipendanath Sharma, Joint Secretary Chudamani Poudel jointly conferred cash prize of Rs. 50,000 to each of the 14 players, Chief Coach Basanta Shahi, Assistant Coach Raju Basnet and Ramji Tamang from the management.

On the occasion, Minister Poudel said that the team’s success had motivated the sport lovers and expressed his belief that not only cricket but other games could also bring home trophies if they were given adequate training. Nepal won the ACC U-16 Premier League held in Malaysia from August 12-21 for the first time.
