Chapagaun (Lalitpur), Sept 9: The Joint British Gorkha Non-violent Resistance Committee has demanded equal facilities to British Gurkha Army personnel at par with the British personnel. The committee has called for equal facilities in terms of pension, compensation to those laid off from job, UK resident visa to eligible children of Gurkha family and free treatment to the families residing in both the countries.

At a programme organized here Tuesday, Committee Coordinator Lal Bahadur Ghising stressed that the Gurkha Army should be entitled to the equal facilities as enjoyed by their British colleagues. Putting forth a five-point demand, six organizations working for the rights of Gurkha Army have launched joint ‘Gorkha Non-violent Resistance London’ campaign.

Ex-British Gurkha Gyan Raj Rai and British national Dr David have staged hunger strike to put pressure on the British government to have the Gurkhas’ demands addressed, said committee’s communication chief Deepak Maskey.
