Palpa,13 Feb 2015: Minister for Industry Mahesh Basnet has said country’s economic progress has been hampered in the absence of promulgation of the new constitution.
Political parties should draft the constitution within the next three months by respecting the mutual ideologies and views, he said.
Opening the Palpa Mahotsav (festival) organised by Palpa Chamber of Commerce and Industry Friday, the Industry Minister argued that ethnicity-based constitution would do no good to the country. He was referring to demand of some political parties who want drafting of the constitution on the basis of ethnic identity of the people.
He said the government was making preparations for reviving eight industries who are presently closed and announcing three towns as ‘industrial corridor’.
There was a huge possibility of creating new employment opportunities in the country by investing the amount deposited in the cooperatives in the industrial sector, the Industry Minister added.
