Chitwan, October 29, 2018: The Agriculture and the Faculty of Forest University and Animal Science, Veterinary and Fishery, Rampur collaboratively commenced the International Poultry Symposium in Chitwan on 28th October 2018. The theme of this three-day event is ‘Meeting poultry demand for food safety and security’ where over 300 animal scientists from nine countries are taking part. The gathering is supported by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development, Nepal Agricultural Research Council, University of Michigan, Food and Agriculture Organisation, Heifer International and the University Grants Commission.

“The event would see the presentations of a total 115 research-based papers on the policy and social economic status related to poultry production, poultry nutrition, health management, heredity, reproduction management, biological technology, and integrated and rural poultry farming”, said the main organising committee chair of the symposium and AFU Dean, Prof. Dr. Sharada Thapaliya. The seminar is attended by the professional poultry farmers, representatives, and experts of the related organization from Nepal, India, Japan, Australia, Germany, Bangladesh, America, Bhutan, and Egypt.

The programme was inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Province 3, Dormani Poudel who affirmed the possible support from the government level to promote poultry farming in the province. On the occasion, AFU Vice Chancellor Prof. D.r Ishwari Prasad Dhakal, National Planning Commission member Usha Jha, Secretary at the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development Prakash Mathema, Dr. Hom Bahadur Basnet, and AFU Registrar Manaraj Kolachhapati also placed their opinions about the theme.
