Kathmandu, Aug 6: The lawmakers representing the Lumbini region at the Constituent Assembly have urged the senior political leaders not to split Lumbini while depicting the provincial borders.

The lawmakers  of Lumbini  submitted a memorandum to the senior leaders pressing for including all the districts of Lumbini in a single province on Thursday.

The memo was signed by 32 lawmakers was handed over to Prime Minister and Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala, CPN (UML) Chairman KP Sharma Oli, UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Madhesi Janadhikar Forum Nepal (Democratic) Chairman Bijaya Kumar Gachhadar and Constitutional Political Dialogue and Consensus Committee Chairperson Dr Baburam Bhattarai, said Gulmi constituency-2 lawmaker Chandra Bhandari.

Bhandari said that there was a positive response. In the memo, lawmakers have demanded delineating the provincial border straddling the areas from Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Gautama Buddha, to holy pilgrimage site of Muktinath.
